~9:20 AM — Room won't be ready yet (check-in is 3:00 PM). Drop all luggage with AoA Bell Services right away — don't wait until check-in for this. Change into swimwear in a resort restroom/pool changing area.
~9:45 AM — Catch the free Disney bus from Art of Animation to Typhoon Lagoon. Buses run frequently but budget 15-20 min for the ride + walk to the gate.
~10:00–10:15 AM — Arrive at the gate. Gates typically open 15-30 min before the posted time, so if today's official open is 10:00 AM, you're arriving right around rope drop rather than truly ahead of it — still very early relative to the 10 AM–8 PM window, and per the guide's crowd data this is close enough to avoid real lines.
🎫 Why There's No DAS/Genie+ Strategy Card Today
Typhoon Lagoon has no Lightning Lane system at all — every slide is standby-only. The entire strategy is arrival timing: peak-season waits run 5-15 min in the morning, climbing to ~30 min only during midday on a nice summer day. There's nothing to book in the app for this day.

The park's other headliner — fast with tight turns and dark tunnels. Get this done early; it's one of two rides worth beating the midday crowd for.

🌊 Storm Slides
Body slide, 3 slides
Bumpy — the guide notes it can be uncomfortable for adults.

🏄 Humunga Kowabunga
Body slide, 3 identical slides
The most intense slide in the park — steep drop, rough landing. Whoever's riding this should probably ride it before lunch, not right after.

🍔 Lunch Break
Leaning Palms has the biggest menu (burgers, chicken, pizza) — best bet for picky eaters. Typhoon Tilly's and Happy Landings (ice cream, giant "Sand Pail" sundae) are the other main options. Note: refillable mugs were discontinued for the 2025 season, so budget for drinks separately.

🌊 Wave Pool (Surf Pool)
Alternates on a posted schedule between calm bobbing waves and intense swell periods — during swells, a six-foot wave hits roughly every 90 seconds.
🛁 Castaway Creek (Lazy River)
A full loop takes about 21-22 minutes, with multiple entry points around the park — an easy, low-effort way to cool down between slides. Some stretches have light misting sprayers; easy to steer around if you'd rather stay dry-ish.

Towels: Complimentary to all guests (no longer hotel-guests-only).
Life jackets: Free, available throughout the park.
Lockers: Available for full-day use if you want to secure phones/wallets rather than carrying them.
Dry break option: Mountain Trail is a dry, ~5-minute scenic walk — a good option for anyone who wants a break from the water without leaving the park.
🏨 Heading Back for Resort Check-In
Bags are already stashed at AoA bell services from this morning, so there's no rush to leave the water park at a specific time — head back whenever the group's ready, whether that's mid-afternoon or closer to the 8:00 PM close. Room check-in (3:00 PM) can happen any time after that; grab keys at the front desk before collecting bags from bell services.
